THE SUNNY-SIDE CLUB

The rules of
Cloudfin Club

A turn is one clear decision: draw, trade or show a set. The open market makes it easy for everyone to follow the table, even while they are still learning.

BEFORE THE FIRST DECISION

Set the table.

  1. 01

Prepare 45 fish cards: nine in each of the five habitat colours. Add 15 support cards with equal numbers of shell, feather and wave scatter marks.

  2. 02

Shuffle the 60-card deck. Deal four cards to each member and place five face-up cards in the market. Keep the rest as a draw pile.

  3. 03

Put a supply of club badges in the middle. Choose a starting member, then play clockwise with all market cards visible.

01

Choose one action

Cast to draw two cards, trade one card from your hand for one face-up market card, or showcase a matching trio. Only one of these actions is taken on a turn.

02

Show a proper set

Three fish cards of the same habitat earn one badge when showcased. Discard the trio and keep the badge in front of you. A wild card may replace one fish.

03

Keep the hand tidy

At the end of your turn, keep no more than seven cards. Put extra cards into the discard pile; market cards stay where they are until a trade changes them.

04

Give the club a last chance

When someone earns a third badge, each other member gets one final turn. Compare badge totals after that last circuit of the table.

Making the scatter set

During your own turn, exchange one support card of each scatter mark for a wild card. This exchange is free, but the wild counts toward the seven-card hand limit. A showcased set may include only one wild, and an unused wild has no score.

What decides the result?

Most badges after the final circuit wins. If members have the same number of badges, compare the number of different habitats they showcased. If that is equal too, the club celebrates a shared winner.

After the first session

The core 60-card deck contains fish and scatter support only. To try the optional characters and weather, add four spotter and four shower cards before shuffling. A spotter can be used once before your action; a shower resolves when drawn and is replaced by another draw. All members must agree to the expanded deck before the deal.

Cloudfin Club is an independent tabletop card-game concept with a Big Bass Bonanza-inspired fishing setting. A shared market keeps every turn visible, while five habitat colours give players plenty of reasons to trade instead of waiting for a perfect draw.

Spot the set
in your next hand.

Deal a fresh five-card practice hand. Matching habitat colours are highlighted and the guide tells you whether a trio is ready. This teaching sample uses fish cards only, with no trading or scoring saved.

QUESTIONS FROM THE TABLE

Wait, one
quick question.

Ask about this edition
May I trade directly with another player?

The basic game uses the shared market only. That keeps trades clear and gives every member the same opportunity to inspect the available cards.

Can three support cards count as a fish trio?

No. One shell, one feather and one wave make a wild card. You still need two fish of one habitat to showcase a set with that wild.

What happens when the draw pile runs out?

Shuffle the discard pile into a new draw pile. Keep hands, the open market and badges in place; the game’s ending condition does not change.

Is membership or payment required?

Neither is required to read this site. Cloudfin Club is a tabletop design concept rather than a paid club, official game service or shop.
